Intent
Our aim is to encourage children to be curious about technology, to explore and experiment in a safe and secure environment as it begins to play an increasingly important role in their lives.
We know how important it is that children understand how to keep themselves safe online and teach e-safety as part of our computing curriculum so that they know who to tell if they ever come across inappropriate material.
Implementation
Computing at Peaslake is taught using the Teach Computing scheme.
This ensures that all three strands from the National Curriculum, Digital Literacy, Information Technology and Computer Science are taught throughout Key Stage 1.
We have designed the curriculum for mixed aged classes so that knowledge and skills are taught in a fun and progressive order and children can become confident and competent users of technology.
Our aim is for children to enjoy computing and talk about what they’ve done as well as apply aspects of it across other curriculum subjects. We expect children to work within their age- related level.
