Bringing Learning to Life

Religious Education

In February the children visited the North West Surrey Synagogue after learning about Shabbat in the weeks preceding. We were shown around by the wonderful Gillian and Louis who gave the children an interesting and interactive insight into what life is like for the Jewish people that attend the synagogue. We came away with a lovely song called Shabbat Shalom 🎶 which we sung for the parents at our school assembly the following week.

Breaking News

🦖 DINO ON THE LOOSE!

Spotted in Peaslake, Shere and even on the top of Holmbury Hill, museum staff are still on the search for this travelling T-rex!

Have you seen this dino?

Our very own T-rex on tour like in 'Dear Dinosaur: T-rex on tour' by Chae Strathie

📖 We love World Book Week at Peaslake Free School. The children were knocking on the windows to come into school on Monday morning as they followed enormous dino footprints up the drive!

🪺 Dinosaur eggs were found in the role play area which sparked so many questions and free writing.

🍽️ The book cafe on Wednesday was a great opportunity for the children to explore different types of reading material with their friends.

🦖 And the morning of World Book Day itself there was excitement in the playground with everyone dressed up as book characters. Looks like the T rex was back to collect her eggs!

🎭 A different teacher was revealed each day in our series of Peaslake's Masked Reader! Who's that behind the mask?

Science Week 2024

Our little scientists kicked off the week with a fascinating assembly on Marie Curie, and her work in the development of X-rays – seeing real ones up close!

A visit from a local GP brought the science of medicine right into our classroom. Our children explored a doctor's bag and ran an experiment, testing their resting and active heart rates using a pulse oximeter.

The children are also involving their families, taking part in ‘The Big Plastic Count’ and revealing the truth to politicians about how much plastic we are throwing away.

It's been a week of discovery, inspiration, and hands-on learning. Here's to nurturing the next generation of scientists and explorers!
