HEADTEACHER'S WELCOME
Welcome to Peaslake Free School. Our school is a quintessential English village school, deeply rooted in its community tucked away in the Surrey Hills. We are privileged to teach here in this idyllic woodland location that enables us to provide a wide-ranging education which combines indoor and outdoor learning activities to help children get the very most from their time with us.

From the moment they join us, children learn how to interact positively together, whether it be in lessons or outdoors. They learn to respect difference and encourage each other through each of the challenges they face - feeling safe to learn and explore.

Our small class sizes allow us to really get to know each and every one of our children, to build positive relationships and watch them flourish as they develop individuality and confidence.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Peaslake Free School is an infant school that offers children from Reception to Year 2 the opportunity to learn in a small village setting that conjures memories of a bygone age, whilst using the very latest teaching methods to bring out the best in all our children.
There is also an independent nursery school on the same site, taking children from 2 years old. www.peaslakenursery.com

We believe we offer a unique educational experience here in the heart of the Surrey Hills. Our small year groups allow us to provide personalised learning tailored to each child's evolving needs.
There is a real sense of belonging and being a part of a community.
Ofsted Sep 2022.
Our traditional village school building is beautifully nestled in the Hurtwood Forest with lots of outside space offering children a varied mix of indoor and outdoor learning and enabling them to enjoy a wide range of cross-curricular activities to support mental and physical development. Our classrooms are carefully equipped with the right mix of technology and hands-on, in person teaching to ensure a broad and balanced learning programme that maximises educational impact.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Whilst our school receives most of its funding from the Government through the Education & Skills Funding Agency, as an independent free school, we are also required to top-up our annual budget in a number of ways. In return for the rich and varied personalised learning benefits offered by the school, Peaslake parents get involved both in fundraising and support the day-to-day running of the school. Find out more about the role of parents at the school here.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
Importantly, our school is both child-centric and community-centric, providing early years education in the midst of the community within which children live. By learning alongside their peers and friends they form lasting friendships.
The connections made between parents from the same community are also very important both for the cohesion of the school and the wider community.
CHRISTIAN ETHOS
The school also has a clear Christian ethos. It has been a Church of England school for much of its history, and has built up close links with the local church over the past two decades. These connections are further reinforced by the affiliation of the Free School with our local Church, St Mark's here in the village and children benefit from regular interaction with members of the Church leadership team.
